Floor Finishes

Hello,

Today I would like to tell you all what I've learned about the floor finishes. As you all know I am doing a project for a nursing home. As you may know, there is a lot of regulations and considerations + research that I need to do for this project.
Design dignity stylebook is number one of my favorite books for this project. There is a lot of information that is very helpful.
Consider using floor colors that contrasts with walls. Avoid shiny surfaces as they can ve appear wet to some people, particularly people with cognitive impairment such as dementia.
A natural-looking floor will appear more homely.
Lino can replace the wood effect including non-slip finishes, acoustic flooring.
Acoustic flooring reduces the impact that sound creates. Carpet in non-clinical areas provides the highest level of impact noise reducing slips.

Cork
Padded Vinyl
Padded Linoleum
Rubber

Cork is a natural material and it is soft. It can be waxed to prevent water damage or stains. It's not as durable as some other materials, but once waxed it's easy to clean.

Padded vinyl flooring is easy to clean and maintain. It's water-resistance which means spills won't damage it over time.

Padded linoleum behaves very similar to vinyl, but it's more natural.
Rubber is ideal for nursing home flooring. It's the safest material on the list, as well as it is easy to maintain.

I hope you find this helpful!
